Christmas Cosmic Update - December 2020

Christmas Cosmic Update - December 2020.jpg

A quick cosmic update before Christmas. This is certainly not the end of year I’d anticipated or that we’d been hoping for!

In the UK, we now have two virulent strains of Covid19, 40 countries have closed their borders to us and now, due to hefty lockdown ruling, many people are spending Christmas on their own.

We’ve been teetering on the edge of a no deal Brexit all week but as I write a post-Brexit trade deal has just been announced, so there is some good news!

There’s so much going on in the sky it’s hard to summarise, but the bigger astrological picture remains unchanged. We’re still moving through the end of the world as we know it and experiencing all the feelings of disillusionment and loss of control that goes with it.  At the same time, we’re also heading into completely new territory.  It may take a while to get there, but the planetary aspects of 2021 will be easier and less intense than they were this year. And I’m here to remind you that amongst all the uncertainty and chaos, something new, which has great potential, has just been born.

Right now, we need to congratulate ourselves for getting to the end of this incredibly difficult year.  As Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto, bulldozed their way through the final degrees of Capricorn they triggered a breakdown of the structures and hierarchies that have been in place for thousands of years.  Mirroring this, on a personal level, our own inner foundations and structures have also been collapsing, making room for something much more solid and authentic to come in.  A reminder that Jupiter, Pluto and Saturn haven’t been together in Capricorn for nearly 4,000 years making this a paradigm shift of epic proportions!

A MONUMENTAL NEW BEGINNING

The much anticipated ‘Great Conjunction’ between Jupiter and Saturn at 0 degrees Aquarius, finally took place on Monday (the 21st). Jupiter and Saturn come together every 20 years but they haven’t been together in the early degrees of Aquarius, and this visible in the sky, since 1226 – that’s 800 years ago!  The fact that this rare and monumental astrological event took place on the winter solstice - which represents the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun (our life force energy), after the longest and darkest night of the year - makes it even more powerful.

This is major turning point energy!

The coming together of Jupiter (expansion/optimism) and Saturn (structure/ discipline) symbolises the beginning of a new world order and a new world view.

We may not see it quite yet but the seeds have now been planted and infused with the humanitarian and innovative energy of Aquarius.  A whole new zeitgeist is in the process of being born, based on egalitarian principles and ground breaking progress.  As we leave the slower, heavier energy of Capricorn behind and move into the faster, future orientated, energy of Aquarius we have no option but to go with it.

Neptune, the planet of divine energy, flow and release will help us to stay open during this process of transition. It’s square aspect to the Lunar Node’s (our evolutionary soul growth), over the next three months is encouraging us to surrender to change and let go of our ego so we connect to something greater than ourselves.

THE FINAL MEETING OF PLUTO SQUARE MARS

Yesterday, (the 23rd), Pluto in Capricorn made its third and final exact square of the year, to Mars in Aries.  This powerful, volatile energy has been pushing us to make changes that will ultimately be favourable in the long term but, in the short term, have been manifesting as a crisis.  This final meeting between Pluto and Mars signifies that an ongoing battle between the individual (Aries) and the state (Capricorn); and the unconscious desire of our soul (Pluto) and our will and ego (Mars) is coming to some kind of completion.

This is good news!  It doesn’t mean that from now on everything is going to be plain sailing but it does tell us that an ongoing challenging cycle is now coming to a close. This will give us more space to start building something new.

2021 – SATURN SQUARE URANUS – NAVIGATING CHANGE

Next year the traditional ruler of Aquarius (Saturn) and the modern ruler (Uranus) will be making a dynamic square aspect to each other.  This will aid the process of freeing ourselves (Uranus) from the old structures (Saturn), and help us to integrate existing structures (Saturn) in a new way (Uranus).  With both Saturn and Jupiter now in Aquarius, the sign of invention, we have a really good chance of finding solutions to existing problems.  Meanwhile the focused and steady energy of Saturn will keep us in check as the zany and enthusiastic combination of Uranus and Jupiter get together to reinvent our future.

The energy of Aquarius is out of the box, other worldly and ahead of its time.  In 2021 we’re likely to see a resurgence of all things ‘alternative’ – complimentary medicine, astrology, and astrobiology (the study of life in the universe). This new world has the potential to be a very good fit for many of us!

UNITED WE STAND

Aquarius is the sign of the people and if the world is to move in the right direction we have to get involved.  While our leaders continue to fight it out and stuff it up, this is a time to reach out and come together in community to help create a better future not just for ourselves but for generations to come.

It feels fitting that we’re ending the year with a Full Moon in Cancer (30th December – 03.28am gmt).  Culminating such a challenging year with this sensitive Full Moon, is an opportunity for profound emotional release; a time for processing and integrating all that we’ve been through so we can move into 2021 with a lighter load, a clearer vision and perhaps even a skip in our step.

On that note, I’ll leave you with the words of Noddy Holder, from the 70s rock band Slade.

Merry Christmas Everybody.

Look to the future, it’s only just begun.
